Boro, a patching technique dating back to the Edo period (1606-1868) was used by the Japanese peasants to mend and repair and extend the life of their garments and household textiles.  The Japanese believe in Mottainai - that the old can be made new and everything can be used again. Every bit of fabric is saved and crafted into something new.

This technique has now been brought into modern times where you can use your creativity to patch it, mend it, repurose and recycle your project from quilts to wearable art.
